Web Designer/Programmer (Odessa, Ukraine)
Primary
Responsibilities:
-
To design
websites and ensure that they are visually
effective and easy to access.
-
Liaising
closely with the customer or client at the
design stage to answer questions such as:
why is the site needed, who is the target
audience, who are the leading competitors,
etc.
-
Advising the
client on the categories and information
needed to construct the site.
-
Designing a
draft site for client approval or
modification.
-
Writing web
pages in a combination of codes such as
hypertext mark-up language (HTML),
JavaScript, CSS, Flash.
-
Testing the
web sites for functionality in different
browsers and at different resolutions.
-
To upload
the websites on to the company servers.
-
Build
websites using technologies that conform to
international standards and make sure that
they are universally accessible.
-
Perform
maintenance and updates to existing websites
when requested by clients.
-
Provide
training on maintenance and update
procedures to clients who choose to take
charge of their own websites.
Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s
degree in communications or other discipline
related to the primary responsibilities.
-
Two to four
years of experience in web design.
-
Advanced
knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and of digital
imaging and illustration with Adobe
Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Illustrator with
formal training an asset.

Advanced
knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, PHP and
dynamic HTML; experience with Macromedia
Flash.
-
Knowledge
and demonstrated experience with
cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE,
Firefox, Safari, etc.).
-
Very good
spoken and written English.
-
Attention to
detail, customer-service orientation, and
creativity in problem-solving.
-
Ability to
work in a team and to communicate in a clear
way to provide training to staff and
customers.
-
Superior
knowledge of current web-design trends and
techniques, a strong online portfolio
displaying user-centered design, and
experience with web database solutions are
definite assets.
